Feature Pitch

Dismembered bodies are turning up across the city, and conspiracy theories run wild — but the murders feel chillingly deliberate, each one echoing the similar savage signature. How could any human rip people apart and scatter their limbs like roadside debris?

A delusional killer, convinced their murders will prevent World War III, selects victims based on extreme, misguided lies spread by over-the-top online personalities and political figures, targeting those deemed “compromised.”

Bailey, a loner goth a goth student at the Gibson Institute of Technology who secretly moonlights as a candy-sweet livestreamer to support her family, watches her friends fall victim to the carnage and finds herself unprepared for a threat that defies reason.

With suspicion falling on everyone and the attacks escalating, Bailey must outthink a conspirator who turns rumor into slaughter, and survive long enough to expose who, or what, is really behind it.

We do not meet Bailey in this Proof of concept.

About the Proof of Concept

This short film adapts an early scene from Elimination Strain, giving a glimpse of the danger that will unfold in the feature. A young couple is terrorized by a masked man in a hazmat suit. What begins as strange text messages quickly escalates into a nightmarish encounter, hinting at the terrifying force behind the murders, and setting the tone for the larger story. The poster also reflects the short and not the feature length script.

Shot in Brooklyn in 2 days, Elimination Strain was filmed using the ARRI Alexa Mini and vintage Anamorphic lenses to give it a cinematic, immersive horror aesthetic. The result is a moody and stylized thriller that captures both intimacy and dread. The film blends traditional horror elements with modern anxieties, including our growing dependence on technology and the isolation it can create.
Elimination Strain is more than just a short film — it's a proof of concept for a feature-length horror screenplay now completed by Christopher Wells. The expanded story centers around a female protagonist who is thrust into a world where obsession and technology are the driving forces of her antagonist.
