NYFW Summer Fashion Model

This shot was taken during New York Fashion Week, and it’s one of my favorite examples of how subtle technique can elevate a photograph.

I used a shallow depth of field to give the model a clean pop from the background, slightly desaturating the crowd and adding just a touch of blur. It’s subtle — but effective. The goal was to keep the focus on her while still telling a story about where she is. The energy of the crowd, the shapes in the background, and the tension between chaos and clarity all help frame her in a way that feels both dynamic and intentional.

I’m a believer in restraint. Simplicity, when done right, creates impact. Knowing when to hold back and let the subject shine — that comes with time, taste, and experience.

One note for anyone curious about fashion photography logistics: when you're in the photographer’s pit at a runway show, you don’t use flash. The lighting is already dialed in to perfection, and using flash would not only be disruptive to the models but also mess with other photographers' exposures. It’s one of those unspoken rules that keeps the show running smoothly.
